We the people created our own government, and as such we have the right to change or abolish it. However, we the Mason students did not found our university. Power is NOT derived from the students. Therefore, we do not have the right to alter or abolish GMU.

I now understand your confusion a bit....the whole not being on campus anymore thing. Well basically the people who's job it is to represent us don't really do anything (the student senate, executive branch) and from my experience with the higherups in the university, they like to talk to students but really don't include us in their long term plans. Why should they? They already have our money and in 4 years, we're gone. Sure we might have some power as alumni later, but that doesn't really help our current living conditions/administration set rules/food services. Just "saying" that you disagree without any forum to do so is kind of silly, i think. Anyway this group is almost certainly not violent, they just pretty much did a poor job of editing the Virginia declaration of rights to match their aims. I don't think they're blaming the system, I think they are trying to make a new one that can organize events and protests to things at mason without interference from the administration (as that would be counterproductive). While I like a good number of people in our administration, most of them don't take a challenge to their authority very well and I completely understand the need for a covert group as opposed to a group that is under the financial and administrative thumb of Mason Hall.

This listing is very VERY outdated. I actually have my own Wiki that is focused on Greek Life at GMU. I only recently started it, but as it comes together and information is sourced I will make an effort to populate things over here. In the meantime, feel free to take a look at corsulian.com/wiki

As I said, I'll be making an effort to update my site and transfer the information over here. For now, it's not in the best format. But I aim to get it all cited, etc. I invite people to take a look so that they could find sourced information. I pay for my site and don't have advertising so I really couldn't care less about increased traffic.

I think they've done a lot to make those woods nicer. And, in any case, the big block of woods between the Commons area and the old quad was much worse. I'm pretty sure that's gone now due to construction.
In any case...Rape Woods? Really? Extreme much?

In general, the security on this campus isn't very good. Most people don't know about escort services, and most of the call boxes scattered infrequently around campus don't even work. I think something should be done about this...anyone agree?

Well yeah, i agree that if you've been drinking you'd probably not be one to call an escort service. That being said, I'm pretty sure that when you call them, they don't "pay attention to it." Most programs of this kind do have those kinds of policies so people will actually use escort services without fear of repercussions. I don't know if this is the case, but it's a good idea in my view.
Also...we're at college...people drink...that's just how it is. Really, compared to other schools in VA, we're pretty mild. You don't seem to think much of your fellow students.

On Thursday, Nov. 15, Mason’s Wind Symphony, under the direction of Mark Camphouse, performed a challenging program at the 2007 Virginia Music Educators Association In-Service Conference in Norfolk, Va. While many Music Education students and faculty annually attend the conference, Mason hasn’t played at VMEA since 2003.
VMEA is a nonprofit organization that provides leadership and professional development in music education. VMEA is an affiliated state unit of the Music Educators National Conference: The National Association for Music Education. The gathering is attended by over 1,400 faculty and student VMEA members.
The concert included: “Espirit de Corps (1985)” by Robert Jager, Concertino for Four Percussion and Wind Ensemble (1997) by David Gillingham, “Easter Monday on the White House Lawn (1929)” by John Philip Sousa, and “Symphonic Metamorphosis (1943)” by Paul Hindemith, transcribed for band by Keith Wilson. Symphonic Band conductor Clyde Hughes led the Sousa, and Symphony Orchestra conductor Anthony Maiello approached the podium for Camphouse’s “A Dakota Rhapsody (2007),” commissioned by the South Dakota College Band Directors Association to commemorate the South Dakota Intercollegiate Band’s 25th anniversary.
At VMEA, Robert P. Carroll Jr., president of the Virginia Band and Orchestra Association, will guest conduct Mason student composer Vincent Oppido’s new work, “Under Skies So Blue: A Centennial Anthem (2007).” This piece was commissioned for the 100th Anniversary Celebration of Great Bridge High School Band Program in Chesapeake, Va., directed by Carroll and Frederick T. Gerhardt.
The ensemble also performed at the Naval Amphibious Base Theatre in Norfolk, Va. the night before, as well as a concert at Hickory High School in Chesapeake, Va. on Friday.

According to Broadside, ITU was able to trace the Wikipedia submission back to the Honors Program in General Education office. How are the computer terminals housed and monitored in the office? If the user is required to login to GMU, then ITU has him/her: find the first IP to request The_17_at_Bailey's_Crossroads on Wikipedia. Map the IP to the GMU member. Otherwise, the Honors office may have logs; is a key required upon entrance like the Scholar's lounge? I don't want to destroy the anonmity of the 17 members. I'm just sayin'. Be careful. Use proxies.

Actually, the rest of that article links it back to Ben Waters, who helped proof-read the document and sent it back to the society's email address. He said he's unhappy that it was linked back to him, even though he agrees with their position.
